Kwankwaso Has Never Delivered Kano!” Buhari’s Former Aide Sparks Fresh Political Firestorm
Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad has argued that former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Kwankwaso has never truly delivered Kano State to any presidential candidate in Nigeria’s electoral history....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ahmad, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the statement days after Kwankwaso complained that neither he nor his supporters benefited politically from backing Buhari’s 2015 presidential victory.
Kwankwaso had earlier claimed that his political structure mobilised nearly two million votes for Buhari during the 2015 election but received little recognition from the administration afterward.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, the former Kano governor said he and his supporters made enormous sacrifices during the campaign period.
“I worked extremely hard. We delivered nearly 1.9 million votes, close to two million. We risked a lot politically, but unfortunately, we did not see any meaningful benefit either personally or for the constituencies we represented,” Kwankwaso stated.
Reacting via a post on , Ahmad rejected the claim, insisting that political history does not support the narrative that Kwankwaso has ever single-handedly delivered Kano State to any presidential candidate.
“Let me remind those concerned of one stubborn political reality,” Ahmad wrote. “History clearly shows that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has never successfully delivered Kano State to any presidential candidate.”
The former presidential aide also commented on the ongoing political conversations surrounding the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
While distancing himself politically from both Peter Obi and Kwankwaso, Ahmad questioned whether the PRP currently has figures more politically influential or nationally recognised than the two opposition politicians.
