Wike Breaks Silence, Dismisses Alleged PDP-APM Coalition Talks As Pure Propaganda
Nyesom Wike has dismissed reports suggesting an alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), describing the claims as nothing more than “political 419.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the remarks on Thursday while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Gomani-Yangoje, Kwali Area Council of Abuja.
The FCT Minister accused Seyi Makinde of misleading Nigerians with claims that the PDP was working on an alliance arrangement with the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.
“When I say some people are fraudulent, many think I’m joking. That is exactly the kind of political 419 we are talking about,” Wike stated.
He insisted that neither the PDP leadership nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had any knowledge of such an alliance.
“There is no alliance between the PDP and the Allied Peoples Movement or any other political party,” he said. “INEC is fully aware that nothing like a PDP-APM alliance exists.”
According to Wike, the ongoing activities within the PDP, including the screening of aspirants for upcoming elections, clearly demonstrate that the party remains independent and fully operational on its own.
“The PDP has already produced a presidential candidate. Wait and see the name that will eventually be submitted to INEC, then Nigerians will know there is nothing called PDP-APM,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Working Committee of the PDP led by Abdulrahman Mohammed has scheduled Thursday for the screening of presidential and governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja by its National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, on behalf of the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.
According to the statement, governorship aspirants are expected to appear before the screening committee by noon at the PDP National Secretariat Annex, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, while presidential aspirants will be screened later in the day at 2 pm at the same venue.
