INEC Receives Final Lists As APC, PDP, ADC, NDC And Opposition Parties Meet 2027 Deadline

In a statement, the commission confirmed that all parties completed the submission process before the May 10, 2026 cut-off date set for compliance.

INEC explained that the deadline was extended following concerns and appeals raised by party leaders during a consultative meeting held on March 24, 2026.

Initially, the commission had fixed April 21, 2026, as the deadline in its Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 general elections.

However, it later granted a two-week extension to accommodate political parties that requested additional time to adjust their primary election schedules.

The extension was officially communicated in a statement issued on March 27, 2026.

According to INEC, the decision aligns with Section 77(4) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates political parties to submit their membership registers at least 21 days before conducting primaries.

Political parties are expected to hold their primary elections between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

The commission confirmed that all registered parties met the requirement within the extended timeline.

“All registered political parties complied with the requirement within the extended timeframe,” INEC said.

It added that the submitted membership registers will now undergo the necessary verification process in accordance with the law.

The affected political parties include the ruling All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, the Labour Party, the African Democratic Congress, and the Accord Party, among others.
