U.S. President Donald Trump announced the development in a post on Truth Social, describing the mission as “flawlessly executed” and “meticulously planned.”

He said the operation targeted what he referred to as “the most active terrorist in the world.”

The militant was identified as Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, who was said to be ISIS’s second-in-command globally. Trump stated that the individual would no longer be able to terrorise communities in Africa or participate in planning attacks against Americans.

According to the statement, this marks another strike authorised by Trump against alleged Islamic State-linked militants in Nigeria, following a previous operation in December in northwestern Nigeria involving ISIS suspects accused of attacking civilians.

Authorities say the situation is still developing, and further details are expected as more information becomes available.
