His message was contained in a statement shared on his official social media page.

According to the statement, Obi mourned the reported deaths of 17 police officers and an unspecified number of soldiers who were killed during an attack on a military facility in the state.

He described the incident as a national tragedy, noting that the loss of security personnel continues to inflict deep pain on families and communities across the country.

Obi stated, “Every security personnel killed is a tragedy to our nation. Every fallen officer represents a family thrown into grief.”

He stressed that the sacrifices made by security operatives must be taken seriously, especially when they lose their lives in the course of duty.

The former governor also called on the Federal Government to ensure proper compensation, welfare support, and long-term care for the families of the fallen officers.

He said Nigeria owes its security personnel and their loved ones a strong duty of care, given the risks they face in protecting lives and maintaining peace.

Obi further urged urgent and decisive action to address the country’s worsening security challenges, calling for sincerity, professionalism, and political will in tackling insecurity.

He added, “To the families of the fallen heroes, I offer my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies.”
