The speculation began after Danielle removed her father’s surname from her social media profiles, sparking rumours of tension between them. The actor also previously came under public criticism after being accused of ignoring her graduation while posting about his children with his second wife, Judy Austin.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Yul Edochie said he maintains a close relationship with his 21-year-old daughter. He explained that he does not expect her to fully understand his decisions at her age, adding that he himself once had similar misunderstandings with his own father.

He also noted that it is normal for children to feel closer to their mother’s side, describing the situation as a natural family dynamic.

In his words, “We are very close. She is just 21, I don’t expect her to understand me. When I was 21, I didn’t understand my father. There will be a tilt towards her mother; it is a normal thing.”

The interview, however, triggered mixed reactions online, with some social media users criticising his comments and suggesting that his daughter may still be affected by tensions linked to his personal life and family situation.
