The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to publicly dissociate himself from reports linking him to an alleged presidential ticket being promoted by a political group.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Keyamo made the statement in a post shared on his (formerly Twitter) account, where he described the situation as a “bizarre comedy” and criticised those behind it for allegedly involving the former President in what he termed a political spectacle.

He argued that it was inappropriate for individuals who are not recognised political actors to claim they had offered Jonathan a presidential ticket.

According to him, “This is a bizarre comedy taken too far by supposedly grown adults, including some who once held positions of authority in this country.”

Keyamo further questioned the legitimacy of those making the claims, noting that they were not even registered on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) platform.

“Offering a presidential ticket to a former President and statesman through individuals who are not even recognised by INEC, and who are treating it like a joke, is deeply unfortunate. It is a political charade heading nowhere,” he said.

The minister urged Jonathan to immediately clarify his position in order to prevent any misunderstanding regarding his alleged involvement.

“For the sake of his global reputation, former President Goodluck Jonathan should promptly issue a clear ‘No, thank you’ statement,” Keyamo added.

He also warned that remaining silent on the matter could reopen public discussions about Jonathan’s time in office and the circumstances surrounding his defeat in the 2015 presidential election.

“Otherwise, Nigerians may begin to revisit the ‘clueless’ campaign that ended his tenure as the first sitting president to be voted out of office,” he stated.
