Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has claimed that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of concerns about growing political opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Omo-Agege made the assertion on Wednesday while speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show.

According to him, the governor’s decision to join the APC was motivated more by political calculations than ideological convictions.

The former senator argued that Oborevwori saw him as a major political challenger and opted to switch parties to strengthen his position ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“Oborevwori chickened out from the PDP to the APC because I am a threat,” he said.

Reflecting on the 2023 general elections, Omo-Agege maintained that the APC recorded significant successes in Delta State under his leadership.

He noted that the party secured two of the three senatorial seats in the state.

“In the 2023 elections that I led, the APC won two Senate seats out of three in Delta State,” he stated.

He further pointed to his victory in Delta Central, where he said he defeated the candidate backed by the governor by a margin of about 15,000 votes.

“In Delta Central, I defeated the governor’s candidate with a margin of about 15,000 votes,” he added.

Omo-Agege also claimed that his political activities and mobilisation efforts after the elections contributed to a wave of defections from the PDP to the APC across the state.

Despite Oborevwori’s move to the ruling party, he insisted that his own political influence remains intact and expressed confidence in his support base ahead of the 2027 elections.
