Dickson Reveals: Obi And Kwankwaso’s Move To NDC Was Carefully Planned, Not Sudden

Dickson made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.
He explained that he had previously worked closely with both former governors, noting that their alignment with the NDC was built on years of political engagement and mutual understanding.
Obi and Kwankwaso recently moved from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC, citing internal disputes and ongoing legal challenges within their former party. Following their entry, both men emerged as the NDC’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Dickson, the convergence of political figures within the NDC was a gradual process rather than an abrupt shift.
“We also brought together Peter Obi and Kwankwaso, two of the country’s most influential political figures, onto our platform. These are people I have worked with for a long time, so this convergence within the NDC did not happen overnight,” he said.
Dickson added that the party continues to attract prominent political actors and growing public support, including former governors and other senior figures.
He also expressed appreciation for the confidence Nigerians have shown in the party, saying the NDC is steadily gaining trust and momentum.
“We have been able to attract strong membership and earn the trust of my colleagues, including former governors and other distinguished Nigerian political leaders. Many Nigerians believe in us, and I want to thank them for their trust, confidence, and continued support,” he stated.
