The meeting is understood to be part of ongoing discussions around the selection of Atiku’s running mate for the forthcoming presidential race.

Atiku emerged as the ADC presidential flagbearer after defeating Amaechi and former presidential adviser, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, at the party’s primary election.

Speaking on the development, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, said the engagement reflects the former vice president’s routine consultations with political leaders and stakeholders on national issues.

In an interview with Punch, Shaibu noted that Atiku continues to engage influential figures across the country as part of efforts to build consensus and address Nigeria’s challenges.

He said, “His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, regularly engages with political leaders, stakeholders, and eminent Nigerians on issues concerning the future of our country. Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi remains a respected political figure and a key stakeholder in the national conversation.”

According to him, the meeting is part of broader discussions among concerned Nigerians working toward providing a strong democratic alternative ahead of 2027.

Following the ADC presidential primary, attention has now shifted to the choice of a vice-presidential candidate expected to enhance the party’s nationwide appeal.

Amaechi is reportedly among the top contenders being considered for the position.
