Ogene, who represents the Ogbaru Federal Constituency of Anambra State, also serves as the leader of the Nigeria Democratic Party Caucus in the House.
His appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Minority Leader, Rep. Fredrick Agbedi, following an online meeting of the caucus held on Friday.
According to the caucus, the decision reflects confidence in Ogene’s ability to effectively convey the positions of opposition lawmakers and improve communication with the Nigerian public.
He was described as a senior legislator with strong parliamentary experience and a firm commitment to democratic values.
The caucus also noted that his understanding of legislative processes and accountability would strengthen its oversight role in ensuring checks and balances within government.
