The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has denied reports that the faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has uploaded the names of its candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal ahead of the 2027 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Monday, Abdullahi described the claim as false, arguing that INEC could not grant access to its nomination portal or issue nomination codes to a faction it does not officially recognise.

He challenged the Gombe-led group to provide evidence supporting its claim, insisting that the allegation could easily be verified.

The denial followed an earlier announcement by the Nafiu Bala Gombe faction, which claimed to have submitted the credentials of its presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates through the INEC portal. However, the faction did not disclose the identities of the candidates it said had been uploaded.

Reacting to the development, Abdullahi maintained that the claim lacked credibility and called on INEC to investigate the matter to prevent misinformation and protect the integrity of the electoral process.

According to him, the electoral commission cannot issue separate nomination portal access or nomination codes to rival groups within the same political party, as doing so would undermine its established procedures.

He further questioned the basis of the alleged submission, asking the Gombe-led faction to present verifiable proof that it had successfully uploaded any candidate information to the commission’s portal.

Abdullahi also urged INEC to look into what he described as the possible forgery and unauthorised use of documents purportedly linked to the commission, warning that such actions could create unnecessary confusion and erode public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system.

He expressed confidence that the electoral body would thoroughly investigate the allegations and take appropriate steps to address what he described as a deliberate misrepresentation.
