The forfeited assets include jewellery valued at ₦4.645 billion, 11 luxury vehicles worth an estimated ₦4.293 billion, $50,000 in cash and an additional ₦30 million.
Justice Jude Onwugbuzie issued the order on Thursday, July 16, 2026, while ruling on an application brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The anti-graft agency had urged the court to permanently transfer ownership of the assets to the Federal Government, arguing that they should no longer remain in Achimugu’s possession.
After reviewing the commission’s application and the evidence presented, the court granted the request and ordered the final forfeiture of the assets.
The total value of the naira-denominated assets—including the jewellery, luxury vehicles and cash—exceeds ₦8.9 billion, excluding the $50,000.
Background
Achimugu first drew national attention in January 2024 when she celebrated her 50th birthday with a lavish seven-day event in Grenada, attended by several high-profile figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other notable personalities.
More than a year later, the EFCC declared her wanted over alleged money laundering.
She was subsequently arrested on April 29, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In March 2026, the Federal High Court in Abuja also ordered the final forfeiture of $13 million allegedly linked to Achimugu and Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Ltd.
In that ruling, Justice Emeka Nwite held that the EFCC had successfully established that the funds were proceeds of fraudulent activities.
