Peter Obi’s Emotional Remark About Politics Sparks Widespread Reactions

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has shared what he would ask God if given the chance, saying he would question why he was allowed to leave his comfort zone to venture into politics.

Obi made the remark while addressing supporters during a recent meeting, where he reflected on his political journey and the responsibilities that come with public service.

According to him, although politics has taken him out of his comfort zone, he believes every individual is placed in a position for a purpose and should use it to serve others.

He also acknowledged that his achievements have come through God’s grace and stressed the importance of using that privilege responsibly.

He said: “I’m a politician today, but if I ever have the opportunity to question God, I would ask Him why He allowed me to leave my comfort place and get involved in politics.

“But wherever we find ourselves is where God wants us to be, and we must do everything we can for the benefit of the masses.

“I’m here by the grace of God, and I must not abuse his grace, whether it’s in a private, corporate, or government setting.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has urged Nigerians, particularly those in the Southeast, not to support Peter Obi in the next presidential election.

Speaking while inspecting sections of the Trans-Saharan Highway and other legacy road projects, Umahi said he remained committed to campaigning against Obi’s presidential ambition despite facing criticism from some supporters of the former Anambra State governor.

The former Ebonyi State governor maintained that his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election is based on the administration’s infrastructure achievements, especially in the Southeast.

Umahi expressed confidence that all ongoing projects initiated under Tinubu would be completed if the President secures a second term, warning against changing leadership midway through major infrastructure programmes.

He said: “They have been insulting me. But I enjoyed this honestly because it shows that what I’m doing is touching them. But there are some of them that are also reasonable. They say the only thing is that you’re attacking Peter Obi.

“I say, no, I’m not attacking Peter Obi. I’m asking people in Southeast and Nigeria not to vote for him but to vote for President Bola Tinubu… And I have my facts.

“All the projects awarded by Tinubu will be completed. In the second tenure of Mr. President, let us not take risks. Any other person coming would have to begin by negotiating abandoned projects, but under President Tinubu there will be no abandoned project. All these legacy projects will be completed.”

Umahi also highlighted progress on the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway, stating that the project is expected to be completed by December with solar-powered streetlights, landscaping, reinforced concrete pavement and a tolling system designed to fund maintenance and improve security along the route.
