Ogun 2027 Showdown: APC Targets Party Chieftain, Demands Immediate Arrest

Hunye is accused of alleged impersonation, conduct capable of causing a breach of peace and other related offences.

In the petition dated August 24, 2026, and signed by the APC Director of Administration, Ayoola Olajolo, the party alleged that Hunye, a former governorship aspirant, had been using both traditional and social media platforms to present himself to the public as the party’s governorship candidate for the January 2027 election.

The APC described the claim as false and fraudulent, alleging that Hunye deliberately impersonated the party’s candidate in an attempt to mislead the public and disrupt peace in Ogun State.

The party explained that Hunye was suspended from the APC on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward, Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area. The suspension was subsequently ratified by the Ogun State Working Committee and formally communicated to the party’s national headquarters.

According to the APC, the suspension followed allegations of anti-party activities, dealings deemed detrimental to the party’s image and deliberate actions allegedly intended to create disaffection among its members.

The party further stated that it conducted a valid governorship primary election, which produced Solomon Adeola as its governorship candidate and Kudirat Balogun as his running mate for the 2027 election.

Consequently, the APC urged the police and DSS to invite Hunye for questioning over the allegations and investigate whether his actions amounted to violations of Nigerian law.

It also called for his prosecution if the investigation establishes a case against him, citing alleged impersonation, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and violations of the Electoral Act 2026.
