Was The Sacrifice Worth It?” – El-Rufai’s Son Reveals What Father Told Him In Detention

Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has shared details of his recent visit to his father in detention, describing him as calm, resilient and full of his usual humour despite his circumstances.

Bashir disclosed this in a post on his official account on Wednesday, giving an insight into how the former governor has been handling his detention.

According to him, visiting his father often leaves him amazed by his composure and strength. He noted that Nasir El-Rufai continues to maintain his lively personality and sense of humour despite the situation.

Bashir said his father’s positive outlook has made him realise that people outside detention may sometimes be more worried about the situation than those experiencing it firsthand.

He also revealed that during one of their visits, he asked his father whether the sacrifices that had led to his detention were worth it.

According to Bashir, the former governor answered “yes” without hesitation.

He wrote:

“When I visit my father, I always leave truly amazed by how it is we on the outside that are bothered. His resilience, uplifting spirit and his usual banter hit in a profound way. I asked whether he still believes this sacrifice was worth it. Without hesitation, he said yes.”
