God Abeg — Lady Cries Out After Clash With Husband’s Cousin Sparks Family Drama

A woman has sparked reactions online after recounting how a seemingly minor disagreement with her husband’s younger cousin escalated into a major family dispute, leaving her with about 30 missed calls from her in-laws.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman, who has been married for more than 10 years, said the incident occurred during a family gathering she attended the previous weekend.

She explained that her husband’s cousin, whom she described as having a reputation for being rude, addressed her by her first name while asking her to pass seasoning during the gathering.

According to the woman, she did not respond to the manner in which she was addressed at the time. However, she later called the younger woman by her first name while asking her to check whether the food was ready.

She said the response immediately triggered an argument, as her cousin-in-law questioned why she had addressed her by her first name.

The woman explained that she reminded the younger relative that she had earlier done the same thing to her. She reportedly pointed out that, despite being married into the family for more than a decade, she had been addressed casually by her first name.

She said the younger woman accused her of being disrespectful despite the eight-year age difference between them.

According to her account, the disagreement escalated until it was brought before the younger woman’s father, who reportedly serves as the head of the family.

The woman said the family head contacted her after she had returned to Lagos and insisted that the matter needed to be addressed in person rather than over the phone.

She reportedly offered to discuss the issue through a phone call and jokingly suggested holding a Zoom meeting instead. She also said she sent ₦5,000 airtime before going to sleep.

However, the situation appeared to escalate further when she woke up to about 30 missed calls from different members of her husband’s family.

Reflecting on the development, the woman expressed surprise at how a disagreement over the use of names had turned into a wider family dispute.

“Be like say na me go scatter this family last last, God abeg,” she reportedly said.

Her account has since generated reactions online, with social media users sharing different opinions about respect, age hierarchy and family relationships.
