I Read The Message Twice — Nigerian Man Shares Ex-Girlfriend’s Reaction After Her Husband Gave Him $300

Published

A Nigerian man has recounted an unexpected encounter with his former girlfriend and her husband at an airport, revealing how the meeting ended with an unusual wedding gift.

The man, identified as @ELROI4049 on X, formerly Twitter, said he ran into his ex-girlfriend and her husband while at the airport. During their conversation, he informed the couple that he was preparing to get married.

According to his account, his former girlfriend’s husband responded by giving him $300 as financial support for his forthcoming wedding.

However, the gesture reportedly did not go down well with his ex-girlfriend. Shortly after the encounter, she sent him a text message expressing disappointment that he had accepted the money.

The woman reportedly explained that she had always spoken positively about him to her husband and felt his decision to collect the cash had undermined the image she had presented.

Recounting her reaction, the man said, “She said she had always spoken highly of me to him and now I had collected cash like that. I read the message twice.”

He added that he carefully read the message but chose not to respond.

The incident has since generated reactions on social media, with several users sharing their opinions about the unexpected wedding support and the former girlfriend’s response.

One user, Yhomir, said he would also have accepted the money, describing it as a return on investment from the man’s past relationship with the woman.

Another commenter, Kanye, agreed, arguing that accepting the $300 was the right decision and questioning why anyone would turn down such a gesture.

Love Dadest, however, advised the woman to stop discussing her former boyfriend with her husband, warning that doing so could create unnecessary problems in her marriage.

Similarly, Konceeda questioned why the man would be expected to reject the money, describing such an expectation as unreasonable.

The encounter has continued to spark conversations online about past relationships, marriage boundaries and whether accepting financial support from an ex-partner’s spouse should be considered inappropriate.
