Erigga Fires Back At Davido With Blunt Message Over Poor Men Comment

Published

Nigerian rapper Erigga has responded to singer Davido following a recent social media exchange sparked by a discussion about artistes who built successful careers without relying on family wealth.

The controversy began after Erigga shared a post praising individuals who had worked their way up from humble beginnings without financial support from wealthy families. Although Davido was not mentioned in the original post, the singer reacted to the message, triggering a back-and-forth between both entertainers.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Erigga subsequently addressed Davido’s reaction in a series of posts shared on X, questioning why the rapper’s message about people who achieved success without family money would provoke a response from the singer.

Erigga sarcastically asked whether his decision to celebrate individuals who had made it independently was responsible for Davido’s reaction, suggesting that there was no reason for the singer to take offence.

The rapper went further to make a reference to Davido’s privileged background, jokingly describing him as the “Ambassador of RICH KIDS” while urging people from wealthy families to motivate themselves instead of taking issue with those celebrating their personal struggles and achievements.

The exchange has since generated significant reactions online, with fans and social media users taking different sides in the debate surrounding family wealth, privilege and the challenges of achieving success independently.

While Erigga’s initial post did not directly identify Davido, his subsequent comments have made it clear that his latest remarks were aimed at the singer following Davido’s reaction.

The ongoing exchange has once again brought discussions about privilege, self-made success and the different paths taken by entertainers to achieve prominence in the Nigerian music industry to the forefront.
