Ondo Deputy Governor Reveals Key To Successful Life After Prison, Urges Inmates To Learn Sk!lls

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, has urged inmates across the state to use their time in correctional facilities to acquire vocational and educational skills that can help them build productive lives after their release.

According to reports, Adelami made the call on Saturday during a visit to the Olokuta Medium Security Correctional Centre in Akure, where he interacted with inmates and offered words of encouragement, spiritual support and welfare assistance, including food items.

The Deputy Governor, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Prison Fellowship Nigeria, encouraged the inmates to reflect on their past, prepare for a more productive future and take full advantage of the rehabilitation opportunities available to them within the correctional facility.

Adelami urged them to seek God, strengthen their faith and acquire practical skills that could make them self-reliant once they regain their freedom.

He advised the inmates not to allow mistakes from their past to determine the course of their future, stressing that their experiences should instead serve as lessons that would guide them towards making better decisions.

The Ondo Deputy Governor further emphasised the importance of vocational and educational training in helping inmates successfully reintegrate into society. He noted that acquiring useful skills would provide them with legitimate means of livelihood and reduce the likelihood of returning to crime after their release.

Adelami therefore urged the inmates to take their rehabilitation seriously and make the most of every opportunity available to them, assuring them that their present circumstances should not prevent them from building a better and more productive future.
