De Zerbi Breaks Silence As Tottenham Struggle To Find Their Scoring Touch

Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult start to the Premier League season continued on Saturday after they were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, leaving Roberto De Zerbi’s side still searching for their first league goal of the campaign.

According to De Zerbi, signing quality players alone is not enough to immediately create a cohesive team, stressing that Tottenham must improve their organisation both with and without the ball.

He also identified decision-making in the final third as an area requiring urgent improvement. The manager urged his players to remain calm when approaching the opposition penalty area and make better choices when attacking opportunities arise.

One notable situation saw Omar Marmoush opt to shoot instead of passing to Andy Robertson, who had made an overlapping run, while Mohammed Kudus was also positioned at the far post. Such moments highlighted Tottenham’s struggles to make the right decisions in promising attacking positions.

Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy also pointed to Tottenham’s decision-making as a major weakness, arguing that the team frequently rushes its attacking moves instead of taking an extra pass when necessary.

Tottenham were also given a scare when Neco Williams appeared to have put Nottingham Forest ahead, but the goal was eventually ruled out following a VAR review.

Meanwhile, De Zerbi introduced Mykhailo Mudryk for his first Premier League appearance for Tottenham following his deadline-day loan move from Chelsea. The winger came on during the second half as the manager continues the process of integrating another new signing into the squad.
