Mourinho Sets Champions League As Top Priority In Real Madrid Return

Jose Mourinho has identified winning the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid as one of his biggest objectives following his return to the Spanish giants for a second spell.

urinho The Portuguese manager returned to the Santiago Bernabéu in June and is set to begin his latest Champions League campaign on Tuesday when Real Madrid host Italian side Inter Milan.

According to reports monitored by Bush Radio Academy, Mourinho does not view his return to Madrid as an opportunity to settle old scores. Instead, the experienced coach is focused on adding another Champions League triumph to the club’s illustrious history.

Mopreviously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, guiding the club to La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup success during his first tenure.

However, despite reaching the Champions League semi-finals in each of his three seasons in charge, Mourinho was unable to lead the Spanish giants to the final.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League meeting with Inter Milan, the 63-year-old made his ambition clear, stating that winning the competition with the club is one of the reasons behind his return.

Mourinho also reflected on the difficult European period Real Madrid experienced before his first arrival in 2010.

He recalled that the club had struggled to advance beyond the early knockout stages of the competition and had gone several years without reaching the semi-finals.

The Portuguese coach noted that Real Madrid have since experienced a remarkable transformation in Europe, winning six Champions League titles in just over a decade.

Although his first spell ended without a Champions League final appearance, Mourinho believes his return presents another opportunity to pursue European glory with the Spanish powerhouse.

With the Champions League once again at the centre of his ambitions, Mourinho will be hoping to guide Real Madrid deep into the competition and ultimately deliver the trophy he was unable to secure during his first tenure.
