After I Got Her A Bank Job, She Rejected Me — Man Shares Painful Relationship Story
A Nigerian man has recounted how his relationship with his former girlfriend reportedly changed after he helped her prepare for an assessment and coached her ahead of an interview with a Nigerian bank.
The man, identified as @jayhemz on X, shared the experience while reflecting on what he described as a situation that reinforced his personal belief that women can sometimes become distant after receiving support from men.
According to his account, he assisted his former girlfriend in preparing for an assessment and also coached her through an interview process for a position at one of Nigeria’s banks.
However, he claimed that she later told him she no longer felt comfortable around him, a development that apparently brought their relationship to an end.
The man recounted the experience with humour, suggesting that he understood her decision given his financial situation at the time. He disclosed that he was earning about ₦90,000 and jokingly said he would now consider applying to Goldman Sachs, accompanied by “prayers of mercy.”
His post has since attracted reactions from social media users, with many focusing on the dynamics of relationships, emotional expectations and the role financial circumstances can play in romantic relationships.
The account has also sparked discussions about whether helping a romantic partner professionally should create expectations within a relationship and how people respond when circumstances change.
