2027 Elections: NDC Scores Major Legal Victory As Court Orders INEC To Adopt New Logo

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and use the modified digital logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ruling was disclosed by NDC National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, following the judgment delivered by Justice J. O. Abdulmalik.

According to reports, the NDC had approached the court after a dispute arose over the logo displayed by INEC on its platform. The party argued that the modified digital logo contained in its constitution should be recognised and used instead of the association logo with which it was initially registered.

Dickson explained that the party’s first National Executive Council meeting approved the modified logo and forwarded it to INEC. He said the electoral commission initially uploaded the logo but later removed it and reverted to the previous version without providing an explanation to the party.

Following the court’s decision, the NDC leader welcomed the ruling and described it as a judicial affirmation of the party’s position.

He subsequently directed the party’s candidates and members to begin using the constitutionally approved modified logo on campaign materials, including posters, banners and other publicity materials.

Dickson also acknowledged that some candidates may have already produced campaign materials bearing the former logo, expressing regret over any inconvenience the development may cause.

He noted that both versions of the logo carry the party’s two-finger victory symbol but maintained that the modified version is the authentic logo approved by the NDC constitution.

The NDC leader further urged party members and candidates not to panic, assuring them that the party would provide additional guidance and publicity concerning the approved logo as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the ruling marks another significant development for the NDC as the party works to consolidate its position and prepare its candidates and supporters for the 2027 electoral contest.
