Adeleke Reacts To Terror Threat In Osun, Tells Residents What To Do

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents across the state to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious individuals, movements or activities to security agencies.

The governor’s directive followed a security meeting between officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) and leaders of the Muslim community and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Osun State.

The meeting was reportedly convened to discuss intelligence received by the DSS regarding an alleged plan by terrorists to infiltrate parts of the South-West and unleash violence.

According to the intelligence presented at the meeting, the alleged plan was aimed at creating fear among residents, discouraging voter participation and potentially disrupting the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to the development, Adeleke called on residents to take security matters more seriously within their communities.

He urged members of the public to promptly notify the police and other relevant security agencies whenever they observe unusual activities or suspicious movements in their neighbourhoods.

“We must provide the police and other security agencies with intelligence reports on noticeable threats in our communities. As we are aware of alleged plots to attack our places of worship, we must become extra vigilant. Report anything unusual without any delay,” the governor said.

Adeleke commended the DSS for what he described as its proactive approach to addressing the reported threats, while urging other security agencies to assess the situation and develop appropriate measures to protect lives and property.

“I commend the Department of State Service (DSS) for taking proactive measures to counter the threats. I charge other security agencies to review the situation and develop an action plan to strengthen the security of lives and properties,” he added.

The governor also disclosed plans to convene a meeting of the State Security Council to evaluate the situation and review the state’s response strategies.

He further called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing credible information that could help prevent potential threats.

Adeleke also urged traditional rulers across the state to convene meetings of their respective traditional councils to deliberate on the security situation.

He stressed the need for collective action to prevent any plans capable of threatening peace and stability in the state.
