Son Chooses Braids Over ₦700k Salary, Father Vows Never To Help Him Get Another Job

A young Nigerian man reportedly turned down a job offering a monthly salary of ₦700,000 after refusing to cut his braided hairstyle to comply with the company’s workplace policy.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the employment opportunity was reportedly secured through the young man’s father, who used his connections to help his son obtain the position without going through a formal interview.

The young man reportedly completed the required medical examination as part of the recruitment process but returned home with the decision to reject the offer.

According to the account shared online, the company had a policy prohibiting male employees from wearing braided hairstyles and consequently required the young man to cut his hair before resuming work.

After learning that his son was considering turning down the opportunity because of the hairstyle requirement, the father reportedly responded, “Then go and cut the hair na.”

However, the young man allegedly refused to comply, insisting that he would rather remain without a job than give up his preferred hairstyle.

The decision reportedly angered his father, who had made efforts to secure the employment opportunity for him. Following the disagreement, the father was said to have decided to stop using his connections to assist his son with future job opportunities.

Years later, the narrator claimed that the man, now 30, remains unemployed despite eventually adopting a low-cut hairstyle, which was the same requirement he had previously rejected the ₦700,000 job over.

His father reportedly maintained his decision not to intervene in his career or help him secure another position.
