Nigerian comedian Real Warri Pikin has apologised to Nigerians following a viral moment involving singer Timaya at the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, Texas.

The comedian, who was recognised as the Best Stand-Up Comedian at the event, explained what led to the controversial moment after Timaya invited a woman to join him on stage during his performance.

According to Real Warri Pikin, she initially declined the invitation because she did not want to jump onto the stage. However, she eventually joined the singer after he assured her that everything would be fine.

She said the situation took an unexpected turn when Timaya lifted her during the performance, creating a moment that generated laughter and excitement among those at the venue.

However, the reaction online was markedly different, with some social media users criticising the comedian and suggesting that her actions had crossed certain boundaries.

Reacting to the backlash in a video, Real Warri Pikin pleaded with Nigerians to be lenient with her and accepted responsibility for her actions.

“Make una take am easy, I beg. I’m sorry. I take full responsibility of my actions,” she said.

The comedian also expressed concern over what she described as assumptions being made about her character based on the incident.

“I understand where una dey come from. Maybe some people are just genuinely concerned,” she said, while appealing to Nigerians not to be overly harsh in their judgment.

Real Warri Pikin further clarified that she had no intention of disrespecting her husband or engaging in inappropriate behaviour.

She described the incident as an awkward moment that occurred spontaneously during what was meant to be an entertaining stage performance.
