Marriage Advice Sparks Debate As Lady Reveals Lie Women Should Tell Men

A Nigerian lady has sparked debate on social media after advising women on information about their past relationships that, in her view, should not be disclosed to men who intend to marry them.

According to reports, the woman shared her views in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she cautioned women against telling prospective husbands that they had previously been involved with married men.

She argued that revealing such information could potentially be used by a husband to justify or excuse infidelity in the future.

The lady also advised women against disclosing the exact number of men they have previously been intimate with. She suggested that women should provide a significantly lower figure when discussing their relationship history with prospective husbands, regardless of their actual past.

“Do not ever tell a man that wants to marry you the number of men you have been with. If you’re in your early twenties, tell him one. If you’re in your late twenties, two boyfriends. Even if you have been with fifty, it’s two,” she said.

She further advised women not to disclose the number of abortions they may have had, claiming that such information could potentially be used against them within a marriage.

The woman also cautioned against telling prospective husbands about previous experiences of domestic abuse, arguing that some men could use such disclosures to downplay their own abusive behaviour.

“If you were battered and you tell a man, on a good day, he will slap you and unconsciously tell himself, ‘Well, at least I didn’t do as much as your ex did,’” she added.

Her comments have generated mixed reactions online, with the controversial advice prompting wider conversations about honesty, privacy, past relationships and the extent to which partners should disclose personal experiences before entering marriage.
