Deputy Senate President Barau Removes Aide After Controversial Abba Must Go Posts

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has removed one of his aides, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, from office following social media posts critical of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Barau’s decision was communicated on Friday, September 18, 2026, through a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shitu Madaki Kunchi.

The statement said Indara’s removal from his position as Special Legislative Assistant followed social media publications containing the phrase “Abba Must Go.” Barau reportedly described the posts as an act of indiscipline and disrespect, adding that they were inconsistent with the principles and values of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Deputy Senate President subsequently directed that Indara be removed from his position in his office with effect from September 18, 2026.

Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, also reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and expressed prayers for the success of the party at all levels.

Indara, a Kano-based TikToker, had earlier stated on Facebook that Kano remained loyal to the political camp of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, while also maintaining that he was still a member of the APC.

The development has generated fresh political attention in Kano, particularly amid ongoing debates and alignments within the state’s political landscape.
