JAMB Sacks Staff After Candidate Extortion Scandal Rocks Examination Body
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed one of its employees after the staff member was found to have extorted candidates.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the examination body announced the disciplinary action in its bulletin on Monday, September 21, 2026, as part of efforts to prevent officials from exploiting candidates and members of the public for personal gain.
JAMB stated that the affected employee was sanctioned after being found to have taken advantage of unsuspecting candidates, stressing that its disciplinary measures would apply to staff members within the organisation just as they do to individuals operating outside it.
The board said the action was intended to reinforce its commitment to protecting candidates from exploitation and ensuring that officials do not abuse their positions for personal benefit.
JAMB also warned its workforce against engaging in misconduct or activities capable of undermining the integrity of its operations and the confidence placed in the examination and admission system.
According to the board, any employee found guilty of misconduct, examination fraud or other violations would face appropriate disciplinary action in line with its established rules and regulations.
The examination body further emphasised that staff members would not be shielded from sanctions because of their positions within the organisation.
JAMB warned employees against abusing their authority or engaging in practices capable of compromising the admission and examination processes, stressing that such conduct could expose candidates and members of the public to exploitation.
The board maintained that its efforts to combat examination malpractice and other forms of misconduct would cover both external offenders and its own personnel, as it continues to strengthen accountability within the organisation.
