Kamo State Addresses Funke Akindele Rumours, Reveals Why She Missed His Movie Premiere

Nigerian skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has addressed speculation surrounding Nollywood actress Funke Akindele’s absence from the premiere of his debut cinema movie, Star Lomo.

The film premiered in Lagos on Sunday, September 20, with Akindele notably missing from the event. Her absence led to speculation among some social media users that there could be a disagreement between the actress and Kamo State, whom she has supported professionally.

However, Kamo State has dismissed the speculation, explaining that Akindele was outside Nigeria when the premiere took place.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the skitmaker addressed the matter in a statement shared on X, where he reassured fans that he and the actress remain on good terms.

“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we’re on good terms,” Kamo State said.

He further explained that Akindele’s absence from the premiere had no connection with their relationship, stressing that she simply could not attend because she was not in the country.

“She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise,” he stated.

Kamo State also disclosed that he had previously discussed the premiere with Akindele and expected her to show her support for the project.

The speculation reportedly gained attention partly because the two entertainers have not been seen together as frequently in recent months. Their professional relationship became particularly prominent during the production and promotion of Everybody Loves Jenifa in 2024, with Akindele supporting Kamo’s career and involving him in some of her projects.

Reports also indicated that Akindele was in Ghana around the time of the Star Lomo premiere alongside singer Waje, who is involved in her upcoming movie, The Four.

With his latest statement, Kamo State has asked the public not to read more into Akindele’s absence, maintaining that there is no issue between them and that her inability to attend the premiere was simply due to her being outside the country.
