Boxing Bombshell: Anthony Joshua Turns To Tyson Fury’s Uncle For Mega Fight Preparation

Published

Anthony Joshua has made a major change to his coaching team ahead of his highly anticipated December 12 showdown against Tyson Fury at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, bringing back trainer Ben Davison and adding Peter Fury, Tyson Fury’s uncle and former trainer, to his preparations.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Joshua’s decision comes after a run of victories achieved while working with Iegor Golub. The former heavyweight champion has now opted to reunite with Davison, who previously worked in his corner for three fights between 2023 and 2024.

However, the arrival of Peter Fury has attracted the most attention, given his close history with Tyson Fury. Peter was the trainer who guided Tyson to his famous 2015 victory over Wladimir Klitschko before their relationship later broke down.

Speaking ahead of the official press conference in London, Joshua confirmed that he had been in contact with Peter Fury and revealed that the veteran trainer had already provided suggestions about his preparations for the fight.

Joshua said Peter had offered him ideas about his training, approach to the contest and areas where he could improve. He added that his objective would be to take control of his own performance while incorporating useful input from the two experienced trainers.

The upcoming clash has also revived memories of the fighters’ infamous sparring sessions in 2011. During the London press conference, Tyson Fury recalled an incident involving a Rolex watch that he had promised to give to anyone who could knock him down during their sparring days.

Fury claimed that he eventually left the session with the Rolex after Joshua failed to drop him. Joshua responded by recalling that Fury also left with a black eye following the encounter.

Despite the exchange of memories and pre-fight banter, both heavyweight stars showed respect for each other during the event. Fury acknowledged Joshua’s achievements throughout his career while maintaining confidence that he would emerge victorious when they finally meet inside the ring in Cardiff.

The December 12 encounter is expected to attract significant attention in the boxing world, with Joshua’s revamped training setup adding another intriguing dimension to the long-awaited heavyweight showdown.
