UCH In Trouble? Olubadan Ladoja Reveals Major Challenge Facing Ibadan Teaching Hospital
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the deteriorating condition of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the monarch made the call on Tuesday when the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, visited him in Ibadan.
Ladoja expressed concern over the current state of the medical facility, particularly the shortage of healthcare personnel, and urged the Federal Government to take decisive measures to restore the hospital to its expected standard.
The former Oyo State governor said the situation at UCH had become a matter of concern, stressing that urgent intervention was needed to prevent further deterioration of healthcare services at the institution.
“I am worried about the present precarious situation of the health facility. There is also an acute shortage of medical personnel. Urgent action must be taken to arrest the situation,” Ladoja said.
Despite his concerns, the Olubadan commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for efforts aimed at restoring the hospital’s former status and improving its operations.
He appealed to the Federal Government to intensify its intervention and ensure that UCH receives the necessary support, particularly in the area of manpower and other critical resources.
Ladoja’s appeal comes amid broader concerns about the state of public healthcare infrastructure and the need to strengthen major government-owned medical institutions across the country.
