They Have A Surprise Coming – Lawal Daura Warns 2027 Election Manipulators

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Lawal Daura, has warned against attempts to manipulate the 2027 general elections, insisting that his party will resist any effort to rig the poll.

Daura spoke on Tuesday during the inauguration of the National Campaign Management Committee of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) in Abuja, where he urged political actors to seek votes through persuasion, credible programmes and engagement with Nigerians.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Daura said the APM campaign would insist that the 2027 election is conducted in line with the provisions of the law and the Electoral Act.

He warned that those seeking to secure electoral advantage through manipulation should not expect to escape without resistance from the party.

“We must make sure that everything is done in accordance with the law and the Electoral Act. And for those who really want to rig, that they can pull a fast one, well, they have a surprise coming,” Daura said.

The former Director-General of the Department of State Services also highlighted the size of Nigeria’s electorate ahead of the 2027 election. The Independent National Electoral Commission has said the number of registered voters has risen to more than 103 million following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise and subsequent biometric cleanup.

Daura said the campaign would seek to mobilise a significant share of the electorate, describing the task as challenging but achievable through sustained engagement with voters.

He maintained that candidates should convince Nigerians through their policies, programmes and qualifications rather than depend on shortcuts or electoral manipulation.

The APM vice presidential candidate also outlined the campaign’s broader objective of what he described as a “reset” of Nigeria, saying the task would require individuals with focus, determination, quality and a strong commitment to achieving their goals.

The inauguration of the campaign committee marks another step in the APM’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the organisation expected to intensify its nationwide mobilisation and campaign activities.

The campaign’s emphasis on securing votes through lawful means and resisting electoral malpractice comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 presidential contest.
