Mr Eazi Eyes Billion-Dollar Milestone, Says Wealth Is Coming But Not His Main Target
Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has expressed optimism about becoming Afrobeats’ first US dollar billionaire, saying the milestone could be achievable in the near future.
The artiste made the remarks during an interview with Capital XTRA, where he was asked whether he was on course to attain billionaire status.
Responding humorously, Mr Eazi said he had already crossed the billion mark when his wealth was measured in Nigerian naira and other African currencies, while suggesting that reaching the same milestone in US dollars could happen soon.
“US dollars, you know, soon come. I’m not really looking for that, that’s not the target. But I see it; it’s coming. Anytime now,” he said.
Despite his confidence, the singer emphasised that accumulating wealth was not his primary objective. He explained that creative freedom and the ability to manage his business interests on his own terms remained more important to him than achieving a particular financial milestone.
Beyond music, Mr Eazi has built a business portfolio spanning investments in technology and ticketing ventures, alongside betting-related partnerships, including Choplife Gaming.
His combination of entertainment and entrepreneurship has also drawn comparisons with American rapper and business mogul Jay-Z, who has established himself as a prominent figure in both the music and business industries.
Reacting to the comparisons, Mr Eazi acknowledged the similarities between their career paths but maintained his individuality. He also made a light-hearted remark about his marriage to actress Temi Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.
“Jay-Z is Jay-Z. I’m Mr Eazi. Jay-Z has Beyoncé, I have Temi,” he joked.
Mr Eazi’s comments reflect his confidence in the growth of his business interests, although he did not provide details of his current net worth or a specific timeline for reaching billionaire status in US dollars.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the singer’s remarks have renewed interest in his growing business profile and ambitions to expand his influence beyond the music industry.
