Samson Adamu Confirmed As CAF General Secretary, Earns Federal Government’s Praise
The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated Samson Adamu following his confirmation as the substantive General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), describing the appointment as recognition of his experience and contributions to football administration across the continent.
The National Sports Commission (NSC), through its chairman, Shehu Dikko, praised Adamu’s steady rise within the continental football governing body, noting that his new position reflected years of service and professional experience.
Before his confirmation, Adamu held several key positions within CAF, including Director of Competitions, Director of Tournaments and Events, and Acting General Secretary.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Dikko said the appointment demonstrated the value of Adamu’s experience and the contributions he had made to the development and administration of African football.
“Samson’s confirmation recognises the experience he has built within CAF. We congratulate him and wish him every success,” Dikko said.
The NSC chairman further described the development as evidence of the growing capacity of Nigerian sports administrators to attain leadership positions in continental and international sporting organisations.
He noted that Adamu’s achievement could encourage more Nigerians, particularly young professionals, to pursue careers in sports administration and seek opportunities to contribute to the growth of sports beyond the country.
Dikko also expressed confidence that the new CAF General Secretary would use his wealth of experience to strengthen the organisation’s administrative structure and support the continued development of football across Africa.
He added that Adamu’s career progression offered an important lesson to aspiring sports administrators, demonstrating the value of experience, competence and integrity in achieving professional success.
