Haaland Delivers Late Winner As Man City End Poor Run With Dramatic Victory
Manchester City secured an entertaining 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig in Germany, with Erling Haaland scoring a late winner to help the English side return to winning ways following a disappointing run of results.
The Norwegian striker found the net in the 78th minute after converting a low cross from Elliot Anderson, sealing all three points for Pep Guardiola’s side in an exciting UEFA Champions League encounter.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Manchester City entered the fixture determined to recover from consecutive Premier League defeats and a penalty shootout victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup.
RB Leipzig started the encounter strongly, creating several promising opportunities while City struggled to turn their possession into clear-cut chances.
Antonio Nusa nearly opened the scoring with a long-range effort that slipped through the hands of Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma before landing on the roof of the net.
Christoph Baumgartner also threatened, but his curling attempt narrowly missed the far post.
However, Manchester City eventually took the lead through an unfortunate own goal by Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba. The defender lost his footing while attempting to clear a cross from Nico O’Reilly, inadvertently directing the ball into his own net.
Leipzig responded after the break when Ridle Baku caught Donnarumma off guard at his near post, squeezing his effort past the Italian goalkeeper to restore parity.
City regained the advantage in the 57th minute through Enzo Fernandez, who rose to power a header into the net.
However, the visitors’ lead lasted only three minutes as Nusa redeemed himself for his earlier miss with an excellent low finish past Donnarumma to make it 2-2.
With both teams pushing for a decisive goal, Manchester City eventually found the breakthrough through their prolific captain.
Anderson delivered a low cross into the penalty area, allowing Haaland to slide the ball into the net in the 78th minute and secure a dramatic 3-2 victory for the Premier League side.
The goal further strengthened Haaland’s remarkable record against RB Leipzig, taking his tally to 13 goals in just nine appearances against the German club.
The victory represents an important response from Manchester City after their recent domestic setbacks and provides a significant boost to their campaign in the Champions League league phase.
