Wike Can Never Be My Leader – Oyinlola F!res Back At FCT Minister

Published

Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has declared that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, cannot be his political leader despite their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oyinlola made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, while reacting to claims that Wike is the leader of the PDP.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the former governor maintained that his political experience and history within the party placed him in a position where he could not recognise Wike as his leader.

Oyinlola described the FCT minister as someone junior to him politically, recalling that Wike was still a student when he served as governor of Osun State.

“Nobody has invited me to any rainbow coalition. I don’t know the meaning of rainbow except the one I know. He is not my leader. You don’t say that kind of thing. Yes, I am a member of the PDP, but he is not my leader,” he said.

He further stated that Wike was still in school during his tenure as governor, insisting that the minister did not qualify to occupy a leadership position over him.

“When I was governor, where was he? He was in school. So, he doesn’t qualify to be my leader. He’s my boy,” Oyinlola added.

The former governor also argued that Wike’s age, political experience and history within the PDP did not place him above him in the party’s hierarchy.

He maintained that he had been involved in politics long before Wike became prominent and had already occupied significant positions within the party and government.

Oyinlola’s comments come amid ongoing political disagreements and discussions over leadership, alliances and the future direction of the PDP.
