Three men have been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of 26-year-old non-league footballer Ezekiel Williams in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom.

Williams, who was originally from London, reportedly sustained serious injuries following an assault in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, along Midsummer Boulevard. He later died in hospital on Monday, prompting Thames Valley Police to launch a murder investigation.

According to Bush Radio Academy, two men, aged 21 and 28, both from Luton, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A third suspect, aged 30 and also from Luton, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three suspects are currently in police custody.

The tragic death has attracted tributes from members of the football community, particularly Kettering Town FC, where Williams played during the 2024/2025 season.

In a heartfelt statement, the club described the late midfielder as a talented, kind-hearted and inspirational individual whose humility, leadership qualities and strong faith made him a respected member of the team.

The club also recalled how Williams quickly earned the admiration of his teammates through his positive attitude and character, adding that his influence would continue to inspire those who knew him.

Williams was known as a box-to-box midfielder and had previously represented several non-league clubs, including FC Romania, Northwood and Harrow Borough.

Kettering Town FC further disclosed that a GoFundMe fundraising campaign had been established in his memory, while expressing condolences to his family, friends and loved ones over the devastating loss.

Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Rob Underhill of Thames Valley Police said the authorities were supporting Williams’ family through specially trained family liaison officers as they cope with the tragedy.

He confirmed that three arrests had been made in connection with the investigation and assured residents that there was no indication of any wider threat to the local community.

The police officer added that detectives were conducting extensive investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the footballer’s death.

Authorities also announced plans to maintain an increased police presence around The Hub and Milton Keynes city centre in the coming days to address public concerns.

Police have appealed to anyone who was around Midsummer Boulevard and The Hub between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, to provide useful information.

Residents and motorists with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the area have also been urged to assist investigators as efforts continue to establish what led to the young footballer’s death.
