You Descended On ADC Like A Thief – Bwala F!res Fresh Shot At Atiku’s Camp After Court Ruling

Published

The Presidency has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar following a Federal High Court judgement that reportedly nullified his emergence as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate and removed the David Mark-led party leadership.

The court, in its ruling on Thursday, reportedly invalidated decisions taken by the party’s National Working Committee, including the primary election that produced Atiku as its presidential candidate.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the judgement has generated widespread reactions among political stakeholders, with several opposition figures expressing concerns about its implications for Nigeria’s democracy and the country’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to the development, Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, criticised the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC, accusing the faction of violating the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Bwala defended the court’s decision, arguing that political parties seeking to govern Nigeria must demonstrate commitment to due process, fairness and justice.

He accused the Mark-led faction of taking control of the ADC leadership through undemocratic means and disregarding established legal procedures.

Bwala further alleged that the faction violated the party’s constitution, Nigeria’s Constitution and relevant provisions of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s guidelines.

He wrote, “A political party that wants to govern Nigeria must be a party of due process, equity and justice.

“You descended on ADC like a thief in the night, took over its leadership undemocratically and hoped that all is well.

“You desecrated the party’s constitution and guidelines, you trampled on Nigeria’s constitution and ‘poopooed’ on INEC’s Act and guidelines; and by so doing you lifted a middle finger on Nigerians and think that you would gaslight everyone.”

Bwala also suggested that individuals who had invested in lobbying efforts surrounding the ADC leadership crisis might now be disappointed following the court’s decision.

He concluded by remarking that those involved in the political manoeuvring would likely be expecting financial rewards for their efforts.

The development adds another dimension to the growing political tensions surrounding the ADC and opposition preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
