Foreign Man Wins Hearts In Lagos After Paying Traders To Rescue Sea Turtles
A foreign man has reportedly won admiration for his compassionate intervention after rescuing sea turtles from individuals allegedly attempting to sell the animals near Eko Hotel in Lagos.
The incident was brought to public attention by a social media user identified as Folarin, who said he witnessed the encounter and was moved by the foreigner’s determination to protect the marine creatures.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the man reportedly confronted the individuals and appealed to them, as well as police officers and other people at the scene, to stop the sale of the turtles, stressing that the animals deserved to remain in their natural habitat.
However, after his pleas failed to produce an immediate resolution, the foreigner reportedly decided to pay the individuals for the turtles, not to keep them, but to secure their freedom.
With the assistance of a police van, the rescued turtles were subsequently transported to the sea and released back into their natural environment.
Recounting the experience in a social media post, Folarin described the incident as both heartbreaking and inspiring, noting that the foreigner’s actions restored his faith in humanity.
He expressed concern over the treatment of the sea turtles, questioning what might have happened if nobody had intervened to prevent them from being sold.
Folarin also praised the foreigner for standing up for the animals despite the apparent lack of support from others at the scene.
The incident has drawn attention to the importance of protecting marine wildlife and preventing the illegal trade of vulnerable animals. It also highlights how individual acts of compassion can make a difference in safeguarding creatures that cannot defend themselves.
