Raphinha Reveals Retirement Dream As He Commits His Future To Barcelona
Barcelona captain Raphinha has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, declaring that collective success will always take priority over individual awards.
The Brazilian forward made the statement on Friday, November 6, a day after signing a contract extension that will keep him at the Spanish club until 2030.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Raphinha maintained that his focus remains on helping Barcelona achieve its objectives rather than pursuing personal recognition.
“I will do my best for the club, not for individual awards. I have always put the interests of the club I play for first,” he said.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, reportedly scoring 15 goals in his first 10 La Liga appearances.
Raphinha also dismissed suggestions of rivalry between himself and teenage teammate Lamine Yamal, insisting that he wants the youngster to enjoy success and achieve major individual honours while representing Barcelona.
He expressed his willingness to see Yamal win multiple Ballon d’Or awards, stressing that such achievements would make him happy.
“I want him to have the best statistics and achieve everything with the club. I’d be happy if he won 10 Ballon d’Ors,” Raphinha stated.
Reflecting on his contract renewal, the Brazilian described the development as a proud moment, acknowledging the challenges and experiences he had gone through since joining the club.
He said he was pleased with his individual and collective achievements at Barcelona, adding that he would love to spend the remainder of his professional career at the club.
Raphinha further disclosed that retiring at Barcelona would be a dream, provided he could maintain the fitness and performance levels required to compete at the highest level.
The forward also identified winning every available trophy with the club, particularly the UEFA Champions League, as one of his major ambitions.
His latest comments underline his desire to remain an important part of Barcelona’s long-term plans while helping the club compete for major honours.
