Emotional Moment As Diewait Ikpechukwu’s Daughter Reacts To AGN’s D*ath Announcement
Chiamaka, daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, has appealed to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to remove its social media announcement confirming her father’s death, insisting that the family should be allowed to make the announcement themselves.
Her reaction came shortly after the guild’s National President, Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, announced the actor’s passing in an Instagram tribute on Friday, November 6, 2026. Yakubu described Ikpechukwu as a legend whose memories would remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the veteran actor reportedly died on Thursday following an illness whose details have not been made public.
In an emotional video responding to the guild’s condolence message, Chiamaka pleaded with the organisation to take down the post, saying she wanted to be the person to announce her father’s death.
“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.
She also expressed frustration over what she described as the tendency of some people in the entertainment industry to show affection and appreciation only after their colleagues have died.
The grieving daughter further appealed to members of the public and the movie industry not to contact her or circulate her father’s death poster, explaining that she was finding it difficult to cope with the loss.
“Please, Actors’ Guild, I don’t want you guys posting my daddy. Make nobody post my papa, please. This is a very hard video for me to make. Nobody should call me; nobody should post my daddy’s poster.
“I’m still wearing my daddy’s shirt. Take that post down, please. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death. I don’t want you guys to do that for me,” she added.
Her emotional appeal has drawn attention to the family’s desire for privacy and the opportunity to handle the announcement of their loss in their own way.
