If Your Wife Cannot Have A Boyfriend, You Should Not Keep A Girlfriend – Pastor Sarah Omakwu
Pastor Sarah Omakwu has criticised married men who maintain relationships with other women while expecting their wives to remain faithful, describing such behaviour as hypocrisy and a clear double standard.
The cleric made the remarks while speaking about adultery and the unequal expectations sometimes placed on husbands and wives within marriage.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Omakwu argued that some men expect their wives to forgive them when they are unfaithful but would find it difficult to accept similar behaviour from their spouses.
She challenged men who keep girlfriends outside their marriages to consider whether they would tolerate their wives having boyfriends, insisting that the same standards of faithfulness should apply to both partners.
In her words, “If you’re one of those keeping girlfriends, but your wife cannot keep a boyfriend, you are a hypocrite. You are double standard. Because what is good for the goose is good for the gander.”
Omakwu further argued that marriage should be built on mutual commitment, explaining that choosing a life partner means making a conscious decision to remain faithful to that person.
She noted that when an individual decides to marry someone, it represents a commitment to that person above all other potential partners.
The pastor also maintained that expectations in marriage should not favour one partner over the other, stressing that a man who demands loyalty from his wife should be equally prepared to demonstrate the same level of commitment.
Her comments have generated conversations about marital fidelity, gender expectations and the importance of fairness and mutual respect between couples.
