Love Is Not Enough – Woman Reveals How Relationship Struggles Changed Her Life

Published

A Nigerian woman, identified as Lovina Ashedzi Emmanuel, has shared an emotional account of how her life reportedly changed from being a skincare business owner, poet and community developer to selling goods on the streets following what she described as a wrong choice of life partner.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Lovina recounted her experience in a Facebook post, where she reflected on the challenges that affected her personal ambitions, business and financial stability.

She explained that some of the most painful life experiences involve people who once had promising futures, meaningful careers and clear ambitions but later watched their dreams suffer because of decisions they made along the way.

Recalling her previous achievements, Lovina said she was once a community developer passionate about improving people’s lives. She also operated a skincare business known as Loviz Nature Bodypaste and described herself as a poet with strong creative ambitions.

However, she claimed that her relationship with the wrong partner significantly affected the direction of her life. According to her, she invested her emotions, time, energy and financial resources into the relationship, making sacrifices while believing that love would be enough to overcome their challenges.

She admitted that she may have overlooked warning signs that should have prompted her to reconsider the relationship, adding that the experience taught her a difficult lesson about the importance of respect, understanding and mutual support in relationships.

Lovina explained that she eventually went from pursuing her dreams and building a business to struggling to meet her basic needs, including resorting to street hawking to survive.

Although she described the transition as difficult and, at times, embarrassing, she maintained that there is no shame in engaging in honest work to make a living.

The Nigerian woman further stated that although she had lost some opportunities, business prospects and the comfort she once enjoyed, she remained determined not to allow her present circumstances to define her future.

She emphasised that she was more concerned about rebuilding her life than dwelling on the setbacks she had experienced, insisting that she still had dreams and aspirations.

Offering advice to other women, Lovina urged them to be careful when choosing life partners, stressing that relationships should be built on respect, shared values, encouragement and genuine support.

She advised women to choose partners who recognise their ambitions and encourage their personal growth rather than make them abandon their identities to sustain a relationship.

She also warned against sacrificing one’s self-worth, dreams and independence simply to keep a romantic partner, maintaining that love without understanding, respect and support can become emotionally exhausting and damaging.

Despite the difficulties she says she has experienced, Lovina expressed optimism about her future, describing her current situation as a temporary phase rather than the end of her journey.

She concluded by encouraging women to love sincerely but avoid becoming so emotionally invested that they lose themselves, adding that she remains determined to rebuild her life with greater wisdom, stronger boundaries and a deeper appreciation of her worth.
