Rephrased Article: Abubakar Kyari, the deputy national chairman (north) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently leading a meeting of the party’s national working committee (NWC).

Tight security measures have been put in place around the party’s headquarters. However, Adamu was absent from the meeting, and Iyiola Omisore, the national secretary of the APC, arrived late and left shortly after, reportedly not being allowed to participate.

Reports suggest that Adamu’s resignation was influenced by Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), following a prolonged feud with President Bola Tinubu. Tinubu had supported Tanko Al-Makura for the position of APC chairman during the national elective convention, but Adamu, who had the backing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, emerged as chairman.

Additionally, during the process of selecting the party’s presidential candidate, Adamu openly endorsed Ahmad Lawan, a former Senate President.

It has been alleged that Adamu has been unable to account for over N30 billion generated from the sale of nomination forms during the recent general election.
