Shiddi, a former lawmaker representing Wukari-Ibbi Federal Constituency, claimed that the newspaper defamed his character by publishing a report alleging that a campaign vehicle associated with him was found with firearms.
However, Justice Edward Okpe ruled that the case lacked merit and should not have been filed in the first place. The court declared the suit “completely devoid of substance.”
In response to the court’s ruling, Oloye Ayodele Samuel, the Publisher of Taraba Truth and Fact Newspaper, expressed satisfaction, viewing it as a positive development and a testament to a fair judicial system.
Barrister P.D Pius, the counsel representing Taraba Truth and Fact Newspaper, congratulated the defendant for their victory in the case.
