The decision to rename the center was announced in a statement by the First Lady’s media aide, Busola Kukoyi. Recently, Senator Oluremi Tinubu held a meeting with the wives of the 36 State Governors at the State House, and now she is set to honor the late Maryam Babangida, wife of former Nigerian President Ibrahim Babangida, by renaming the center after her.

During the event, the First Lady also unveiled her own picture in the hall of fame at the National Centre for Women Development.

The renaming ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, wives of state governors, former ministers, former legislators, and Mohammed Babangida, along with his brother Aminu Babangida.
