Mahmood Yakubu had a meeting with all the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja two weeks ago.
During this meeting, discussions included preparations for the upcoming off-season governorship elections in Kogi and Imo, scheduled for November of the same year.
It’s worth noting that this meeting with the RECs was the first of its kind to be open for media coverage since the conclusion of the 2023 General Elections.
INEC had earlier announced the allocated period of July 4 to August 5 for the review of all activities related to the previous election.
Festus Okoye, the INEC spokesman, confirmed this in a statement, outlining that the review process would begin with the RECs’ meeting and conclude with the commission’s retreat.
Photos from the ongoing session have also been shared to document the review process.
