Addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday, the National Chairman of APGA, Edozie Njoku, stated that the court has already mandated INEC Chairman Yakubu to acknowledge him (Njoku) as the National Chairman.

Njoku emphasized that the return to court on November 29, 2023, would lead to the sentencing of INEC Chairman Yakubu and others for their failure to comply with the court’s order.

The party’s chairman urged Nigerians to support the judiciary to safeguard it from individuals seeking to compromise justice and undermine its integrity and sanctity.

Recalling events, he noted that on November 9, 2023, FCT High Court 40 in Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/4068/2023, filed by Chief Victor Oye, accused him of forging a Supreme Court judgment, leading to his brief detention at Suleja Prison for two days.

“Today is November 24, 2023. That is, 5 days away from November 29, 2023, the adjourned date for Mahmood to be sent to jail.

By its judgment, the Court found Mahmood and Oye culpable, but out of leniency gave them a 14-day window to purge themselves or prepare for jail,” said Njoku.

“Rather than do the needful, INEC led by Yakubu Mahmood in collaboration with Oye, headed to the Appeal Court, boasting that they have procured enough Judges to ensure that the contempt charge dangling over their heads end up as an exercise in futility,” he added.

“However, there are far-reaching implications to INEC’s posturing and grandstanding. It signals an internment to competent Court orders in Nigeria. INEC led by Mahmood simply wants to prove to the world that it has immunity.”
